2023 team project
REFRACTION is a sensory game that utilizes the player's senses by restricting sight and sound. You must direct yourself throughout the space by using camera flashes to see your surroundings and follow the audio to point you to the exit. While exploring, collect five keys to unlock the door and escape.

Role: Programmed player movement and camera gameplay mechanics. Programmed key collection system. Created AI pathing for NPC to follow the player. Designed game level and map space. Created animations and scene changes.

Design Process


The following screenshots showcase the level design layout, as well as various iterations for each room type. This allows for a more clear understanding of what the game will implement and include for the player to experience. Concept art created by KC Tovera also encapsulates overall game feel and style.

This game is the first full-length personal project I have worked on in a team setting, providing opportunities for team communication and production. It is a horror-esque experience that proved many challenges during the development process, allowing me to explore AI programming, map design, and animations.
